Is this Austin sleep clinic right for you?

When a few bad nights become insomnia

Chronic insomnia means trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or returning to sleep at least three nights a week for three months or longer. Sleep apnea causes pauses in breathing during sleep. It can occur at the same time as insomnia. We treat the insomnia, we have partners who treat the apnea, and our clinician coordinates any referral that is needed.

Work schedules and sleep

Early shifts, night work, on-call hours and changing schedules can make insomnia harder to manage. CBT-I does not require a nine-to-five schedule. Your clinician builds the plan around the hours you actually work and adjusts it each week.

Ashleigh's approach to therapy:

I understand that every single person has been molded and formed by their environments around them. In order for effective change to take place, therapy must be a safe and welcoming place in order for you to feel comfortable learning and discovering which route to take in your self-discovery journey. I prefer to be the passenger while you are in the driver’s seat telling me the route you want to take, and me helping you navigate the way to get there. I can’t promise that the journey will always be rainbows and sunshine, and there will be tough truths and strategies that seem hard to implement, but the destination will be one that you have longed for and are ready to receive.

What happens at your first appointment

The first appointment is about fifty minutes. Your clinician asks how your nights and days run, how long the problem has lasted, what you have tried and whether anything besides insomnia may be involved. If CBT-I is a good fit, you begin a two-minute morning sleep diary. Your clinician uses it to choose a consistent bedtime and wake time, called a sleep window. Treatment usually lasts six to eight weekly sessions. Many patients notice progress in the first few weeks. Read the full process on How It Works.

You must be physically in Texas during each session. Compare our Dallas and Houston locations, or see care across the rest of Texas. A limited number of clinicians also see patients at 13809 Research Boulevard, Austin, TX 78729. Call (737) 999-0784. We confirm availability when you book.

Three things Austin patients ask

Which insurance do you take for Austin patients?

The same plans as everywhere in Texas: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Cross Blue Shield (HMO plans), Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage, Cigna / Evernorth, Medicare, UnitedHealthcare / Optum and UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage. We verify your benefits before the first session, and self-pay is available if your plan is not among them.

Is anyone on your team actually based in Austin?

Not at the moment. The closest clinicians who are currently accepting patients are located along the San Antonio corridor. They see Austin patients by video. See Our Clinicians for current availability.

Do I need an Austin sleep study if my partner hears me stop breathing?

A sleep study is an overnight test used to look for breathing and movement problems. Sleep apnea and insomnia often occur together. We treat the insomnia, we have partners who treat the apnea, and our clinician coordinates any referral that is needed. Mention loud snoring or breathing pauses during your first appointment.
